Lines: 40 I do not agree with rabbit!jj's feeling that the discussion on homosexuality is boring. I find it extremely interesting. I have never been asked out on a date by someone gay, but if I was I would react fairly calmly and laid back (somewhat inversely proportional to the politeness of the request. i.e. I would react stronger to less polite approaches, though I wouldn't react violently in any case). If it didn't seem specifically sexual to me (and unless it was blatant it probably wouldn't since I tend to view people in a good light as probably not having different ulterior motives) I would probably interpret t as someone just wanting a friendly get-together and I would probably accept. If something like that had happened to me eight to ten years ago, part of my internal reaction would have been disgust but I think that I'm more tolerant and non-judgemental now. I think that a big part of the disgust and/or hatred reaction is based on a person's views on their own sexual identity. Eight or ten years ago I was less comfortable with myself as a person and as a sexual being but now I am more comfortable with and more accepting of that aspect of myself. Part of it also may be that then I didn't know any gay people (or didn't know I knew any), but since then I have met a good many, and have a number of gay friends and have found that there really is no difference between homo- and heterosexuals outside of what sex of people they prefer to engage in sex with. Most gay men do not eye the bodies of heterosexual men with wild crazed lust in their eyes, and most lesbians are not card-carrying dykes who want to eliminate the male species. (Though, to be honest I have met gays who fit the stereotypes, just as there are blacks, jews, orientals, intellectuals, athletes, programmers etc. ad nauseum who fit stereotypes of those groups.)
