The hypocrisy of the gay apologists concerns a false pretense assumed for the credit attaching to a moral position they perceive as virtuous. The expressed moral value is that gay behavior is and should be considered socially acceptable- in essence, that gays have nothing to be ashamed of. The pretense is transparently false when coupled with a disclaimer evincing the writer's unwillingness to be identified with the professed values. Maybe hypocrisy is too strong. It is really more like the kind of posturing many of us outgrew with our baby fat.
