Lines: 11 The story you related was correct. The first batter was walked, and Ruth was ejected for protesting. Ernie Shore came in to pitch, the runner was thrown out trying to steal second, and Shore retired the next 26 batters in a row. Therefore, he got credit for a perfect game.
