Message-ID: <80@hou2b.UUCP> Date: Thu, 18-Aug-83 15:31:34 EDT Article-I.D.: hou2b.80 Posted: Thu Aug 18 15:31:34 1983 Date-Received: Fri, 19-Aug-83 04:46:16 EDT Organization: Bell Labs, Holmdel NJ Lines: 14 The tax man is very unforgiving...maybe even at fault! I seem to have given away a couple of hundred dollars because I was late filing for the Homestead Rebate that would have been paid in July of this year. I was told by Trenton that they gave us the usual extension of time...to January 15 or something like that, and that anyone who filed later was out of luck. Just to make sure I would believe it, they cited a couple of legal cases that had been decided in favor of the Div. of Taxation -- cases in which the taxpayer had filed late and was denied a rebate. I wonder if all this is posturing or is their position valid in cases such as mine...I believe I did not receive the mailing that provides the filing forms, and importantly, serves as a re- minder to file. I INVITE COMMENTS and/or COMMISERATION. John Cocker...BTL/ho...mail: hou2b!5134jtc
