Sorry if this is a repeat). ------------------------------------------- This is my last message for a couple of days. I'll shut up for a while so as not to monopolize the net (unless I see something I *have* to respond to), since I've submitted about four articles today. Ah, yes. Sky King. I remember watching reruns of that in the 60's on Saturday mornings. Both of the above mentioned shows were contempory westerns that used aviation. Specifically, as follows: ---------------------------------------- SKY KING Western First Telecast: September 21, 1953 Last Telecast: September 12, 1954 Cast: Sky King...............Kirby Grant Penny..................Gloria Winters Clipper................Ron Hagerthy Plot Synopsis (partial).... Sky King was a contemporary Western, starring Kirby Grant as an Arizona pilot-rancher who used an airplane instead of a horse to fight wrongdoers. With him on the Flying Crown Ranch were his teenage niece Penny and nephew Clipper. Sky's twin-engine Cessna was called the songbird. ------------------------------------------ THE WHIRLYBIRDS Adventure (syndicated only) produced 1956-59 (111 episodes) Cast: Chuck Martin...............Ken Tobey Pete ("P.T.") Moore........Craig Hill Janet Culver (1956-57).....Sandra Spence Helen Carter (1957-59).....Nancy Hale Partial Plot Synopsis........ Helecopters were substituted for horses in this contemporary western. Chuck and P.T. were pilot partners in an outfit called Whirlybirds, Inc., located in Southern California. They hired out for all sorts of jobs, such as locating prospectors, delivering vital supplies, and even chasing a bad guy or two. ------------------------------------------ Now for a little trivia time: From 1948 to 1954 there were four prime-time networks. Three were ABC, CBS and NBC. What was the fourth? What was the shortest run of a prime time TV show? What was it's name? When did it air? Who was the guest star? Who played 7-year old Jenny Jones in the 68-69 season of Daktari? ------------------------------------------ Well enough for now. Be back in a few days, but still reading faithfully.
