Lines: 19 Comment: Not only do diesels stink, so do cars with catalytic converters. At a stop-light, I almost suffocate sometimes. I saw on the news this week that in Cook County ( Chicago ) the EPA was stopping and inspecting cars. (They were not giving tickets, just taking a survey.) Question: Now that the government and car-makers have agreed to produce vehicles with emission equipment warrantied 5 years and 50,000 miles, what are the owners legal obligations after 5 years and 50,000 miles? We all know someone who has removed their catalytic converters. Is this legal after 5 and/or 50,000?
