When I power up the terminal, I want it to tell the modem to dial up my favorite computer. So far I've tried setting up the terminal's "latent expression" to be the dialing string ("ATDTxxxxxxx"), and this works fine if I just hit the reset key. However it doesn't work when I power up the terminal. I suspect some sort of timing problem; possibly the modem isn't quite ready to respond to the command right after powerup? Has anyone else successfully done this with ANY terminal/modem? It seems like the obvious thing to want to do.... (In the meantime I've fallen back to the alternative of having the latent expression set up a function key, so at least I only have to hit one key after powerup.) -Neal McBurnett, ihnp4!druxv!neal
