Nicaraugua has elections slated for 1985. If you think that this is a long way away, I have two points to make: 1) Remember our own history after our break from the Brits. 2) The military regime of Chile, a regime which we support and used as a Friedmanite experimental station, has elections slated for 1989, after nearly 10 years of military rule. By the way, Sunday, Sept. 11, is the 10th aniversary of the military coup and the death of Presidente Salvador Allende, a Socialist elected by due democratic process. Nixon, Kissenger, et. al. could not allow the presence of a successful socialist experiment in our sphere of influence, so a policy of de-stabilisation was implemented, much like the case with Nicaraugua today. Let us not forget Allende. "History often repeats itself, the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce." from *The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte* Jeff Myers
