In fact, it classes as a moving violation! Now, that being said, let's examine how jaywalking is defined. There are at least three major catagories of action that qualify as jaywalking: 1) Crossing a street against a DON'T WALK or RED light. 2) Crossing between crosswalks in an area defined to be a "business district". 3) Crossing any street at a point other than a crosswalk if your action causes vehicular traffic to have to take some action (such as altering course or slowing down) due to your presence in the street. So you see, if you are in the middle of nowhere and cross a street miles from a crosswalk, you are not in violation unless you caused traffic to react to your actions. --Lauren--
