For more information, read the classic sociological work on the subject, written circa 1898, yet still considered the best single work on suicide: Emile Durkheim's *Suicide*. Durkheim is considered the father of American "bourgeois" sociology; among those he influenced heavily are Talcott Parsons and Robert Merton (of the functionalist school). I'm sure there must be works specifically on conditions in modern Sweden, tho. I will endeavor to look. Jeff Myers
