Suicide does not just come about because people are unhappy.
For more information, read the classic sociological work
on the subject, written circa 1898, yet still considered
the best single work on suicide: Emile Durkheim's *Suicide*.
Durkheim is considered the father of American "bourgeois"
sociology; among those he influenced heavily are Talcott
Parsons and Robert Merton (of the functionalist school).

I'm sure there must be works specifically on conditions in
modern Sweden, tho.  I will endeavor to look.
