Karl, consider what would have happened if the man had a gun instead of a tire iron. I am genuinely sorry about your injuries and I DO mean that sincerely, but if the man was THAT drunk to do that amount of damage with a tire iron, I tend to think that the you, your wife and the woman might well be DEAD if he owned a gun. Although the result of the NY law stopped you, a person who IS well versed in handguns from being able to protect yourself, it also presumably stopped a drunken man from owning one. I acknowledge that if ANYONE wants to get a gun, they can, no law or not, but at least that crazy drunk, did NOT have one.
