I would prefer to see the wife-beater shot dead than to see his wife and others smacked around with a tire iron. But if Karl had carried a weapon, the most probable outcome would have been no injuries at all. Just a thought: does NY law prohibit possession of shotguns? A 12-gauge would have worked just as well.
