If the point of having the gun is to stop this person from attacking you and his wife with a tire iron, what is wrong with using some other realiable method of stopping him? If the point is to stop him, not kill him, Mace would seem to be effective for the purpose. From your note, I gather that you'd rather use an Uzi or a small tank rather than mace. Why the emphasis on killing? I would think that stoppping the crime is whats important. If Karl was carring a gun, there would have been a dead person. That's not an injury?
