Without saying anything about the merits of the issue itself
(for now, anyway) I'd like to point out that the "ban teeth"
concept (and similar statements that try to draw comparisons
with handguns in that manner) was totally ridiculous.

There are lots of useful things you can do with teeth: chew food,
strip wires, etc.  Biting another person is a relatively infrequent 
use that is certainly not primary.  On the other hand, the primary
(and practically the *only*) use for a handgun is to threaten, injure,
or kill another human being.

If you want to make analogies, at least make them reasonable.
