Saltzer's Runoff program on CTSS. Runoff has gone through numerous versions; ours is most closely related to Roff, by M. D. McIlroy. This describes the format program in the book which follows [nt]roff. [NT]roff was originally written by J. F. Ossana in PDP11 assembler in the early 70s for the original UNIX. Sadly Joe passed on in 77 or 78. Doug McIlroy is a research Department Head at BTL. I'm afraid thet the user interface to [nt]roff is locked in the proverbial concrete. Joseph L.
