Drug guns, such as are suggested by Dirk Grunwald, are used routinely
by conservation officers to tranquilize large animals, either for safety
when attempting to move them, or to permit the animal to have a tracking
transmitter fitted. They could presumably be equally well used by police
or righteous citizens to stop criminals.
It sounds like a good idea, but it will probably be just as popular as
the idea of camera guns for "sportsmen" who claim that the thrill of
hunting is purely in the chase.
