What isn't brought up is that the injured people were the ONLY ones hurt, as far as I can tell from the original article (its memory is slipping away at this point). If Karl had handled the situation correctly, NO ONE would have been hurt. The pro-gun argument depends very heavily on the distinction between "decent, law-abiding citizens who have a right to defend themselves" and "criminals". Is Karl supposed to be an example of a decent, law- abiding citizen? Let's look at Karl... Is a decent, law-abiding citizen's first impulse to grab a gun and take things into his own hands? If you say yes, then I say they are the last people who should have guns. If you say no, then we must come to the conclusion that Karl isn't very decent.
