Nuclear War is a bad thing. Being annexed by the Russians is another bad thing. it would be nice if we could do without the nuclear weapons without having to worry about a Russian takeover. Now, if every North American had a rifle, and was trained to use it, and most were damn sure that one of the reasons they had their rifles was so that they could repell a Russian invasion we could get rid of the nukes. This, of course, would leave Europe less well defended than I would like. Perhaps the time for the 'professional soldier' and even the conscripted soldier is past. We make war on civilians these days. And it seems about time that the civilians recognised this and got ready to fight back. Of course, this means that war will not be veiwed as a horrible thing that can never happen, but as a very real thing which happens to people all the time. This will please the Viet Nam Vet I know, who feels that the whole world thinks that he is 'out of time' since wars 'just don't happen to real folk'. Laura Creighton utzoo!utcsstat!laura
