Scenario: a neighbor sees you and gets his gun to "disarm" you. Another calls the cops telling them about a bunch of "crazies" running around armed. the police comes with reinforcements and the probability of someone ending up getting shot increases exponentially. ] Damn lucky? Why should I consider myself lucky? The officer did what he was trained to do. I have no problem with that. "... able to tell the story with pride"? Umm, pride? Pleasure, per- haps, that the police acted in the manner which they did. I hold no pride in any part of the situation, from the time the woman walked into my apartment until after the paramedics left. "a neighbor sees you and gets his gun to 'disarm' you. Another calls the cops..." Well, the basic problem here is that you don't know a thing about my building: a. There are only 2 other apartments on the floor, and the hallways have doors on them; no such thing as passers-by. b. One of the other 2 families was out of town for the weekend. c. The other family was out for the night. No one else was going to hear a thing on my own floor. The neighbors upstairs might have heard a fight, and so might have called the cops, but nothing more was there to see. After all, I don't think they were going to come down and join the fight just for grins, do you? "...the probability of someone...getting shot increases..." Not exactly likely, considering that there was no one else around. More assumptions based on zero evidence. I don't get my firearms out unless (1) I'm cleaning them; (2) I'm head- ing for the shooting range NOW; (3) I feel a need for self-protection and it is safe to use a firearm within the context of that need. ============== Karl Kleinpaste =============== ...!allegra!rocksvax!ritcv!ccieng5!ccieng2!kfk ...!seismo!rochester!ritcv!ccieng5!ccieng2!kfk
