Such multiple postings increase the number of articles transmitted around the net, using up modem time, port time, and disk space. Again, since the later versions of B news post an article submitted to multiple newsgroups as only *one* article, and since they store it in multiple newsgroup directories by making links, such postings consume only a small extra amount of resources. I have noticed (we're running news 2.10.1) that several articles submitted to multiple newsgroups *do* appear separately in those newsgroups. Is there a bug in news somewhere, or is an old version of B news or another news program submitting/forwarding such articles N times? Guy Harris {seismo,mcnc,we13,brl-bmd,allegra}!rlgvax!guy
