to show each user the article only once.

     Such multiple postings increase the number of articles transmitted
     around the net, using up modem time, port time, and disk space.

Again, since the later versions of B news post an article submitted to
multiple newsgroups as only *one* article, and since they store it in
multiple newsgroup directories by making links, such postings consume only a
small extra amount of resources.

I have noticed (we're running news 2.10.1) that several articles submitted
to multiple newsgroups *do* appear separately in those newsgroups.  Is there
a bug in news somewhere, or is an old version of B news or another news program
submitting/forwarding such articles N times?
