Yes, I said it, and I mean it. I live in Chicago; I am 30 (or will be in a month), haven't had a fender-bender for 5 years, nor a ticket for 6 or 7; and my insurance has finally gone *down* to about $800/yr. BUT...if you're like me...I'd rather pay the repair bills for an accident, than report it to my company. It's certain death to your insurance policy to get a fender-bender, and, say, a 10 MPH ticket. Insurance? When you're afraid to use it? *I* think it's legalized extortion; what else can you call it when I pay just short of a grand a year to keep my license, yet am afraid--for good reason!--to use the so-called benefits of my policy? (Of course, it could be argued that my fear of losing my insurance is what's kept me so cautious...*hmph!*) What's worse, my insurance agent told me a few weeks ago that, with Chicago being a main entry point for undocumented aliens, the odds are 2 or 3 to one-- according to his insurance company accident statistics--that if someone hits me, they'll be uninsured, without a license, and an undocumented alien. So, I pay the whole thing.... I wish I could walk to Naperville, Dave Ihnat ihuxx!ignatz
