Well, actually the American media does just the same thing; we call it
EDITING. Somebody has to decide which is the news that's fit to print.

But let's not start up the debate over moderated digests versus
open bulletin boards, at least not in net.general. Since both net.announce
and net.general will be available, let's just let those who want a trim,
edited, guaranteed germane notesfile read one, and those with the time
to read everything posted read the other.
