To the many un-American replies to my correction of the spelling of defenSe:

Don't you fur-in-ers realize that whenever you speak to us Americans that
YOU are supposed to speak in OUR language - of course this includes writing
- even in net news !  You can't expect us to accept all of the strange
quirks and oddities of YOUR languages.    And, by the way, if you could, 
please use the American dialect of the person to whom you are conversing,
