That's what this discussion on gun control is all about.
And who determines whether you are a responsible gun owner.
The government has been chosen by the anti-handgun committees for this role.

They are anti-HANDgun, not anti-gun.
Besides, scenarios 1, 2, 3, and 4 could have taken place with a rifle or
shotgun.  Those who keep their handguns under their pillows or in
their nightstands may not agree, but in my house guns were locked up and
a search in the middle of the night for the key??
So, what good is a locked up gun?
An gun in the open is fine, if you like the looks of that in your cozy
home---------
