HELP!

I am playing the "Ulysses and the Golden Fleece" adventure game from
Sierra On-Line for an Apple II. I have reached the cave on the
Isle of Storms and have successfully gotten down to the third level
in the cave. However, there is a wall of fire on the second level
that I could not get past, and there is a wall of fire on the third
level that I can not get past. What do I do?

I have tired "Douse fire" but don't seem to have anything to put
the fire out.
