 A while back DEC installed ECO #7 on our vax 11/780. What this does is
 cause floating exceptions to fault rather than trap. Cleve Moler (the author
 of MATLAB) asked me to update the handler. The following set of (fortran callable)
 routines implement this. It should be easy to modify to handle most arithmetic
 exceptions. The source is in net.sources.
