Lines: 23 Issues and NO Answers: 1) Does anybody know what happened to the rumored Icom IC-35 220 MHz rig? Has anybody in Net-land gotten a new Santec-220uP ? If so, how is it ? Does anybody have anything to say about the Yaesu Memorizer ? 2) I have seen references before on the net to a CB allocation in VHF or UHF range. Where, pray tell, is that, (so I can avoid it...). 3) Is there any packet activity which does NOT use HDLC chips and strange NRZI encoding ? This would be like RTTY - asynchronous 1200 baud, but have the protocol and packet structure. In other words, why do I have to buy a TAPR board to do packet ? I have a home system and a both a 202 and 212 modem - plug into my serial port, add some software, and presto: packets ! Any other standards or groups working on non-TAPR approaches ? 4) Are there any 2-meter FM DX nuts like me around Chicagoland who can give advice on antenna setup, linears, etc. I have a Kenwood 7950 (45 watts) and a Butternut Super-Trombone (5 dbd omni) whose base is at the 30 foot level (therefore the tip at the 46 foot level). I am going to be putting up a Power-Pack A147-22 sometime. Do all you guys hang out on 52 ? I heard a so-called FM DX net once, called and was either ignored or just didn't make it. Any operating info for a newcomer ? R. J. Hanson N9DZZ, ihuxq!hanson, BTL-Naperville, IW 1A-407, 312-979-7663
