They were pulling it back to the car when they stopped to rest. One of them offered, "It sure is hard to pull a deer when the antlers keep getting stuck in the dirt and roots." They continued on for a mile or so, cussing the deer, and rested again. Accidentially, when they started again, they began to pull the deer by the antlers. They were delighted at the difference it made when it was pulled that way, instead of pulling it by the hind legs. After another mile or so, one of them suggested, "This sure is easier than pulling him by the hind legs. But the car's the other direction."
