Via private communication, i have learned that Slowinski has 
shown that M132049 is prime.  in other words:


                                 132049
                                2        -1  is prime

this number, if it confirmed, will be the largest known prime.

before confirmation of results.  he seems much more interested in
public status than in mathematical publishing.
