Recent criticism of Alda states he made a bundle rerunning the Korean
War with a laughtrack.  What I have read indicates that the writers of
the show fought very hard with CBS to remove the laughtrack, but did
not reach their aim.  You can see this if you watch M*A*S*H by noticing
that the more subtle jokes do not have the laughtrack on them.
