Let`s not forget that when Woody Allen won that same award for Annie Hall he did not even show up at the ceremony but instead was performing with his jazz band. That was a no no in the eyes of the Academy. And anybody who snubs the Academy is unlikely to be considered for any future awards. Let`s face it.
