In some circles it's considered a 'classic' of that era. There were many films in the 50's where 'menace from outer space, inner space or wherever, terrorizes mid-america and teenagers save mid-america. I not sure (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) but I believe that "The Blob" was one of the first of these films. I believe (but don't quote me) that Stephen King wrote something along the effect that teens in that time period were insecure about their futures (the Russians about to hit us with the A-Bomb) and it was good for them to see films were they where the heros. If you want to see a REALLY BAD film from that era try "I was a Teen-age Were- wolf" w/Michael Landon (before his Little Joe days), now that's a BAD film. Mary
