Calling "Things to Come" a dull film is hardly fair! For the time, it was a superb production, and could hardly be called "boring" in that context, at least. True, no lasers zapping or light sabers, but then who needs those ostentatious frills, anyway? --- "To Sir With Love" is an unrealistic film, just dripping with emotion. I also happen to like it very much, since (believe it or not) I *like* films that drip with emotion, if they do it properly. In fact, my primary measure of a "good" film is wether or not it makes me feel an intense emotion (on purpose, not as byproduct of poor production values!) Of course, there are other measures that I use to judge "technical" quality, but a film can be technically poor but still worth viewing. --- "What's Up Tiger Lilly" is a hilarious early Woody epic. Maybe I'll bring a copy of it along when (if) I make it out to the D.C. Unix conference. Which brings up a question. If I do make it out, what films would people like to see? If we can dig up a Beta machine, I could probably be talked into bringing out some tapes from my (and various friends') collections. I'll bring my outtake tapes and stuff in any case, I guess. Feel free to make suggestions by direct mail. Don't be surprised if I do not respond to you individually on this topic -- but all requests will be noted. --Lauren-- {decvax, harpo, allegra, ihnp4, randvax}!vortex!lauren
