What do most of you mean when you say, jazz ? 

Are you talking about the "Big band jazz", the jazz that was born out
of the 20's 30's 40's, or jazz fusion.

Just as I consider there to many many categories of rock (or so called
rock), there are many categories of jazz.

Someone made a comment about early 70's rock music, what point where
you trying to make ( 70's music of yes, who, pink, genesis, uriah heep,
zappa, tull, ELP, starship-airplane, stealy dan, etc was not music ?
These are some of the bands that I can think of who were making
the music of that time). I kind of grew found of this type music anybody
else ?
