In an earlier article, I said that Rounder Records (though dealing almost exclusively in Bluegrass and Blues) was a good place to look for rock's roots "as any modern music scholar knows". I meant (modern music) scholar, not modern (music scholar), as Jeff Winslow thought when he said (of me) "My, aren't the pop music freaks getting pretentious". Yes, Jeff, the classics are timeless; but I am not a "pop music freak", and I am also not a modern (music scholar). I am a (modern music) scholar (modern music in this case referring to jazz, blues, bluegrass, and rock...perhaps modern american popular music would be more accurate). Personal note to Jeff: I tried mailing an apology to you 5 times for my rabid attack (it was a lousy day); it invariably returned with the message "Unable to deliver mail", so here it is for the world to see. I'm sorry for my rabid attack, Jeff. Seriously and sincerely, Eddie Stokes (!duke!mcnc!ebs)
