  well, I suppose my favorite bass player has to be Ray Brown. He has
backed everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to Steely Dan, from Count Basie
to Rick Springfield. 
  he's done some marvelous duet work with guitarist Joe Pass.

  I'd venture to guess that he shows up on several dozen L.P.'s each year.
Aside from the great Tower Of Power horn section, Ray Brown is probably
the most sought after studio musician in the country.
 
  He must be highly rated by his peers in the industry.
