You might try the technique I use to clean my hands after working on my bike:
Thoroughly saturate the tail with cooking oil.  This will mix with the motor
oil and allow the resulting mess to be washed off with dishwashing liquid.
Several applications may be required...

Also, you could try Goop, or any of the other mechanics' hand cleaners on the
market.  Just be sure to wash all the stuff out!  Good luck.
