I would agree that LeGuin's "The Left Hand of Darkness" is her best
book.  However, "The Dispossesed" (another Hainish novel) is equally
well know.  Both books won both the Hugo and Nebula awards for their
years.  This was back in the days when it was uncommon for the same
novel to win both.
