As I recall, there is an earlier, companion book called "Fantasia Mathematica", although I am not quite sure of the title. Both books deal with math-oriented sf, and sort of predate popular sf. I believe they describe themselves as mathematical fiction. I have not read either for quite a while, but recall them as being very superior collections.
