I always thought that the trick was to get somebody whose feelings are
very hard to hurt. Mine are. the problem is that people assume that you
are callous. I am very uncomfortable with people i have to be diplomatic
about - mostly they seem to want me to take responsibility for their own
shortcomings. I play the 'say nice doggy until I can get a rock'
strategy. This is not fun to do all the time, so it is a lousy
strategy for someone you care about.
