Brin entitled "The Great Silence" in vol 24 No. 3 (Sept.) of the Quarterly Journal of The Royal Astronomical Society. The upshot of this is that deadly von Neumann probes or Ecological Holocaust would adequately account for the lack of contacts so far. This might have some bearing on the present discussions of interplanetary migations.
