I am pretty sure that it had something to do with the fact the Joe
Paterno went to Brown.  He has always had an interest in Brown football.
He played QB for the team.  I think that Joe was doing some kind
of favor for Brown.  I know that the Brown football recruiters were
quite successful in getting the players that they wanted when they
told high schoolers that they would play in State College, PA.  I was
always sure that it was a recriuting ploy and the game would 
eventually be cancelled.  Apparently the game is still on...
