The pilot Morris Kahn described is Doctor Strange.  I have the
tv movie on tape but haven't watched it for a while so I'm not
sure who was in it.  It was based on the comic book character,
though not very closely, I would imagine.  It was a series for
a very short time about five or six years ago.  The pilot film
still shows up on the late show occasionally (that's how I got
my copy, I remembered liking it enough to record it).
