There is a chance I will be living in
Japan for a year and a half beginning next month. It would be just outside
Tokyo. 
I know *nothing* about Japan. Anything
anyone can tell me about living there
would be interesting and helpful:
finding an apt., mores & customs, things
to do, learning the language (is learning written Japanese hopeless?), getting
around, etc.
