Subject: Wanted- info on computer kits

      I am considering building my own terminal and
would like to know what others experiences have been before
running out and buying a kit.  Ideally it should be
something that can be expanded upon but which is of
reasonable cost.  Some other basic questions:

      - Do the more popular companies such as IBM and Apple
        carry kits?
      - What percentage of the cost would be saved over
        buying the terminal outright?
      - Are the assembly manuals easy to read?
      - What types of stores carry kits and what are their names?
      - What about compilers and software?

It also would be nice if it had at least 16K
to work with.  Please send comments/gripes/etc.
