I simply see it as the non-inclusion of a non-relevant detail. Do you see "Mr." as being impersonal? Changing to a "Mr/Master" title is a regressive step. Marital status is generally non-relevant. Where it is relevant people can be explicit. I think a positive step would be to have a generic title for people. No reason to give bigots all sorts of additional hooks into people's lives.
