    I'm surveying current VAX-based relational database software for a system
on which to build an applications package, and would appreciate comments on
users' experiences with such systems (especially ORACLE and INGRES).

    Of special interest are comments on: 

    . the reliability of the system with respect to maintaining database
	 integrity (I have heard that ORACLE has problems with this)

    . performance, especially in a simultaneous, multi-user environment

    . the quality of documentation and customer support

    . facilities for interactive and batch data entry

    . the frequency at which new releases occur; compatibility between releases

    . the quality of host-language interfaces, especially to C
