Message-ID: <113@yeti.UUCP> Date: Sun, 9-Oct-83 22:57:55 EDT Article-I.D.: yeti.113 Posted: Sun Oct 9 22:57:55 1983 Date-Received: Tue, 11-Oct-83 05:07:35 EDT Organization: Masscomp, Littleton, MA Lines: 17 I recently bought a used '81 Saab turbo. The rear tires were a bit worn, and I was figuring on getting them replaced. However, when I took it to a garage to have some other incidental work done to it, the mechanic told me that the rear tires were worn because of a bent rear axle. It seems that on the trans-Atlantic crossing in '81, some Saabs were mistakenly anchored to the deck by the rear axles, which were subsequently bent by wave motion. Any other '81 Saab owners out there with a similar problem? Have you had any luck getting Saab-Scania to foot the bill for a new axle (or at least replace it a minimal cost)? If so and you live in the Boston area, which dealer did the work for you? How much (if anything) did they charge? Thanks mightily in advance, Mike Leibensperger {tektronix, ucbcad, decvax, harpo}!masscomp!leiby
