I called the NJ State Fisheries number that you gave me over the phone. They were quite helpful. In a nutshell, they said they have issued a warning for Blue Fish caught off the coast of NJ. Tests have found traces of PCB and Cordone in the fish. They suggest that children and pregnant women avoid fish that weigh over 6 lbs, and that nobody eat more than one Blue Fish meal in a week. In all cases he said to clean out the fatty and dark part of the fish, since that is where the contaminants collect. [ Don't take this for fact, it is from my memory. ] Fortunately, he said there was no problem with Connecticut Blue Fish, and that we should eat and enjoy!
