I hope Ray Davis doesn't really believe that cats are rodents. (It's hard to tell on the net) This reminds me of my pet taxonomical peeve. That is, people calling "yellow jackets" "bees". "yellow jackets" are in the hornet family (Vespidae). They are not bees. Bees and Hornets are in the same order (Hymenoptera), so this isn't as bad as calling a cat a rodent. Cats are in the order Carnivora. The rodents are the order Rodentia, characterized by gnawing teeth. Confusing bees with yellow jackets is more like confusing dogs with cats, i.e. same order, different families. Mammals and insects are parallel classifications (Class Mammalia, Class Insecta) in the phyla Chordata, and Arthropoda, respectively. "God help me I love it, I do love it so" Lew Mammel, Jr. ihuxr!lew
